The gardens and pool

The pool

The Swimming Pool is 8 x 5 metres in diameter and has a shallow and deep end with clearly marked gentle slope between the two main depths. The shallow end is nearest to the house. The pool does not require heating. You can swim between mid-April and mid-November. Out of season the water is fresh but mid July or August it can be as warm as a bath! A modern filter system ensures that the water is exceptionally clean and the pool has good clarity. It is cleaned daily.

The Pool Terrace is surrounded by a retaining wall and overlooks the Terrace Garden. To the East, the terrace gazes upon the Kizil Dag (Red Mountain) named for its reddish colour at sunrise and sunset. The pool terrace is graced with terracotta pots and fine wooden poolside furniture and has a small outdoor barbecue area.

The Garden:

The Driveway is shadowed by a small stream which meanders its way through the woods. DrivewayThe entrance has an arch with the name Kavaklar festooned with passionflower. Kiwi, peach (seftali) , canna lilies, pomegranate (nar), mulberry (dut) and lemon (limon) trees line the driveway together with fig (incir) and berberis. There are poplar (kavak) trees close by.

The Lower Garden features traditional ottoman seating and has pomegranate, lemon and orange (portakal) trees overlooking a small stream. There are also several fig trees and some grape vine (uzum). A datura flower tree grows in a corner. There is a horticultural plot in the far end. At the far end you can often see neighbouring farmyard animals: goats, sheep and donkeys.

The Middle Garden (or Terrace Garden) consisting of two terraces Poolwith lush plants: Banana (muz), Philodendrons, Hibiscus and Cannas, but also fruit trees: Medlar (mushmella) , Quince (aiwa), Plum (erik) and Tangerine (mandalina). At the far end is the Pool Machine Room.

The Upper Garden overlooking the pool and also the house has Oleander, Jasmine, Cactii, Olive Trees, Peach, Apricot (kayasi) , Nectarine, Qumquat, Mandarine and Lemon along with an assortment of flowers and Agave. The hill slope behind the house has been planted with yellow Mimosa and mauve Jacaranda trees. Also behind the house is the Solar Energy plant.

The Hill has been left as natural as is practicable - Pine trees and Olive trees predominate. The rocky slopes have steps cut to enable access to the high cush - a seating area which offers spectacular views over the entire valley - South, East and West. A gate behind this seat allows you to explore the hills to the North.

At the top of the hill: You can reach the very top of the hill above the house after an hour's climb.

ViewAt the top you will see Lycian rock tombs (historic Daidala) and there are panoramic views of the Bay of the 12 Islands as well as a bird eye view of the village of Inlice itself.
